Low end receiver suggestions?

Thanks to these forums, I just replaced my 20 y.o. Bose speakers (nobody told me they were crap back then) with JBL S38s for my Home Theater System (and got a good deal too).

I would like to upgrade my receiver. I have a pretty good DVD player and I will be getting a DIRECTV HD/DVR set top box as soon as they come out. I've already got rear satellite speakers, subwoofer, and center channel, so I want to get a 6.1 receiver. I would like to spend less than $300. I also have a CD changer hooked up to my current receiver, although we don't play much music. Any recommendations?
