Low Light Projector Screen recomendtion

699 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  1Time
ok I just finished my $50 dollar DIY LCD Projector using some salvaged parts and it actually works alot better than I thought it would about equal to some of the LCD HT projectors from a few years back and for 50 bucks in parts I really can't argue with what I payed for it, could use a little more light but thats my next project.

Was going to build a screen for it. was looking at building a 80x60 screen. Does anyone know any easy to use material (something like tileboard) that is 60" wide

also was looking for a good screen formula to use on the screen to paint it. I heard the 75% delta silver metalic 25% Delta Pearl combo is good. any other lowcost formulas that have decent gain while have good black levels?

I use mellanine , should be ava at your local Home Depot...
i've thought about that but I thought it only came in 48in size. guess i'll just have to go to HD after work today and see what they got thats 60in, or I might just need to go with a 16x9 screen and figure out a way to trick my LCD that its a 16x9 screen ( I see fun with powerstrip in my future)
I don't recall anyone using 3 parts Delta silver metallc + 1 part Delta pearl and I don't know how well it would work. I do know that if a high gain, inexpensive, DIY screen existed that helped with black levels, it would be very popular. I know of no such DIY screen solution at this time.

I suggest considering a smaller screen size for a brighter and better picture.
