Loyalty Rebate and ReplayTV as a gift ...

Hi All,

Being the good friend that I am and wanting to advertise for ReplayTV I want to give a ReplayTV to a friend of mine as a present. In doing so I want to make it as inexpensive as possible. To do this am trying to cash in on all the rebates I can (NBC, Mercata, ebates ...)

My first question is about the Loyalty Rebate can I buy the unit, give it as a gift to a friend, and still get the rebate? The form talks about having the unit plugged in and registered for 45 days.

My second question is does the purchased unit have to be a model from ReplayTV or can the Panasonic Showstopper be purchased (from Mercata) and used? Again the form talks about ReplayTV-branded units.

Just looking at 30 hour units, here's how the prices compare.

1. Replay brand. Price at 800.com is $600, but after both the NBC and Loyalty rebates and $30 ebates rebate, that's actually $370.

2. Panasonic brand. Current Power Buy price at Mercata is $536, which means after the $100 Mercata credit, $26 ebates rebate and $100 NBC rebate, the final price is $310. You can't use the loyalty rebate on Panasonic machines.

These prices don't compare to the killer $230 deals that you could have got last month, but they're still not bad.

What $30 ebates rebate? I bought my unit last month --

Nope. www.ebates.com gives you discounts ONLY when you use their site to go to a partnered merchant WHEN you make your purchase. The $30 is the 5% discount you get at www.mercata.com which you get by going to ebates, linking to mercata, and then making your purchase. There are no after the fact rebates.

Did you use the step by step guide that I created to buy your unit, if you did then you would have linked via ebates and you would get the rebate, but like karog said, you can't do it after the fact.
