I figured it to be about 1600 hours of use on the bulb. Then earlier this evening I heard a VERY LOUD POP. The projetor still had a green light on, but the fans weren't going anymore.

Luckily, I had a spare on hand for anticaption of the 2000hr mark, so I swaped it out(after cleaning all the little bits of glass and dust inside the bulb housing).

First thing I noticed after the switch was the increase in brightness. I had noticed the bulb getting very dim over the last couple weeks. The new bulb really does seem twice as bright. In the future I may start swapping the bulbs out at 1000-1200hrs instead of waiting. The bulbs are pretty cheap(relativly speaking, $330) and I would really rather replace them BEFORE they POP. Also the brightness after 1200hrs really drops off quick it seems.

On the whole I'm still very happy with my LP340. It's turned into a real workhorse. I run it pretty much 8 hours a day without any problems.
