LT150 Custom Component Cable

188 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  Yahoo
Well...I now need to get another VGA->Component cable for the newly arrived Panasonic RP91 DVD Player.

I read with interest the post from Mr.Wiggle on how to do a VGA extender cable using Cat-5E...the natural question for me is...this technique should work for building a custom VGA->Component cable like the one sold by NEC for its LT150. In fact it should only require 1 set of CAT5E instead of the 2 sets since the VGA->Component cable only uses 6 wires maximum (probably 4 only with R,G,B and a ground), and a full CAT5E is 8 wires.

My question is has anyone actually done with any success and if so how's the quality of the picture? I'm not looking for a long cable run, even 1 foot will do the trick, but the issue of "impedance" bothers me as I'm not a tech guru. Should I be considering a different kind of cable altogether for improved quality and cost? http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
