An experience from an ordinary person...

Man o Man how to begin...

No.1 I'm no expert...this is just my honest opinion looking through my eyes! (20/20 vision)

Yesterday I went to Grant's place (3hr drive) and enjoyed every minute (2hrs and 8min) with Grant. He's a complete gentleman and really appreciate his hospitality...Thanks Grant.

We watched scenes from 'Lost in Space' 'Toy StoryII' and 'The Cell'. Wow you have got to be kidding that this is not the best projector, bar none' outhere for the price!!!

The colors are awesome to say the least. Superb contrast!

Brightness is flawless...The whites are white and the Blacks are black.( If I had to complain about one thing it's that I am particularly sensitive to the screen door effect. I did notice it a bit but only in the white portion's of the movies! But...not when in HTPC mode! That's what perfect vision does.

Rainbow:

What rainbow!!! I don't even know what the rainbow effect is and asked Grant not to tell me and we left it at that. Thanks Grant.

This projector was built (The engineers didn't know it at the time) to be displayed on the High Power Da-Lite 2.8. They are truly the perfect match.

I expected the white to be overpowering (Like everyone else I bet because logic dictates it to be that way)...boy was I wrong.

It looks AWESOME folks. If you really want to see what I mean it's simple: (Please don't forget I'm a simple guy!)

Put in 'The Cell' at the very beginning the scene with the horse and Jennifer Lopez's white dress.

In this scene you can really see the difference between the white(Jennifer) and the black(The horse). The details of the white dress is absolutely astonishing and if the horse is not Black then I truly don't know what black is!! The white, at no point in time, never ever overpowered the black...NEVER!!!

Toy Story II:

Man what can you say about cartoonish films. they just look perfect!...Period!

Lost in Space:

Here's a great demo to show off the blacks. It is also a good quality film. The scene where Matt locks his target, the glove scene on the trigger switch...the details on the black...OOOOHYYAAAAA beautilful detail!

I'm now going to purchase a High Power Da-Lite 2.8 so I'm asking a little help here folks... where can I buy this puppy for a great price. (I want a 80x60 screen size) I appreciate all feedback by the pro's. Thanks in advance.

2 very important facts to remember with the LT150:

1. Make sure you turn the White Segment off (No checkmarks in the box)

2. The Gamma corrections on the LT150 will be your best friend! Normal in my opinion simply s~cks!

Natural 1 and Natural 2 are the way to go depending on what you are watching.

If you own the LT150 or going to be please consider in your budget a Da-Lite 2.8. To get full performance.

I myself DO NOT watch DVD's. I'm a HDTV fanatic. If you did not see this puppy in HD boy are you going to be surprised! It is simply the best route to go with this projector!

Grant,

When I came home yesterday I noticed that 'The Cell' was playing at 21:00 on Bell Expressvu so guess what I did...I watch it in HD of course.

I wish you were here to enjoy it! I actually didn't watch the movie if you know what I mean...I simple gazed in awe at all the details, the colors, the scenes, the clarity, etc... in the movie.

This baby in HDTV Format is simply amazing to say the least.

To think that I was going to buy the Runco DTV-852 for $28,000CDN! There's no way in hell to justify the price difference between the 2 units. I will now buy a new car for my wife with the price difference.

If your budget is small (who's isn't) and want the best bang for the buck then LT150 is the way to go BARNONE!

If you're a rich individual and have alot of money to burn then the Runco is for you...barnone! The only advantage with the Runco is that it is a silent puppy.

Summary: Please keep in mind that I'm no expert and do not consider myself to be at all. I'm just a simple man...period

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the LT150 ($4,100cdn used 150hrs). I brought it to Grant's place yesterday and did a side by side comparison with his brand spanking new LT150 and it looked just as good as the new one!

I can't wait to get the High Power screen and blast this thing on it. It will be complete by then!

1 final note about Grant's masking system. It is simply brilliant to say the least. It's so simple that it should be patented! Simply because it's so cheap and easy to do.

Congrats Grant on the brilliant idea. I will be doing the same.

There are pictures apparently somewhere on this site but couldn't tell you where.(So I was told). It is worth a look and it works great!

Sincere regards,

If you find the masking pictures, can you post them somewhere? I would be interested in seeing his method.

Thanks...

Sergio,

Thanks for the positive comments.

Perhaps you could elaborate about the "white segment" and your reaction to it when it was on and then when it was turned off.

Remember, seeing is believing!

Grant,

Remember me? I got so caught up with preparing for the MCAT this summer that I have little time for anything. However, I would still like to take you up on your offer of experimintation, after August 20th sometime! I am especially interested in seeing the LT150 in action.

I will email you at some point.

I spent about 4-5 hours on hold with Dell to get the order I made on July 19 good. Got a snapshot of the Web confirm page immediately, got the email later that night. Didn't get the next email - Called Dell Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally a gentleman in sales helped me out. Sent him the copy of the email they sent me and they made good on the price.

Here's a good masking link
