All of the positive posts about the LT150 has caught my interest. I currently have a Tosh TW40X81 and Pany RP91 so the increase in screen size is very tempting. But I'm definitely an RP and HTPC newbie. Most people seem to be using an HTPC rather than a DVD player. Why? What benefits does the HTPC offer over a DVD player like the RP91?

Search for posts by Grant Smyth - he has many posts detailing the image produced by a HTPC vs a progressive scan DVD player.


I too have a RP91 and am looking at either the LT150 or another NEC model - a LCD projector - the VT540K.


Short version - HTPC seems to produce the best image with a progressive just slightly behind.

Lou, Thanks for the suggestion.


So its primarily an image quality issue and not one of any kind of added functionality (eg. able to watch TV or VCR)?
