LT150 and CX1 were fed HTPC for DVD, normal Cable TV via composite, STB DVD via Svideo 13 feet from homemade blackout 108"X54" 1.1 gain white screen (cloth side).

1) 2/3 size and weight of CX1 (lens size too), 2) HTPC DVD image is much better than CX1 (less screen door, brighter, colors more accurate and saturated, smoother, less digital appearing, larger image at same distance--100" wide on 16:9 at 13 feet), 3) much worse picture on S-video and composite (worse deinterlacer and scaler than CX1), 4) same noise level as CX1 until gets hot then fan goes into high gear then it's slightly louder, 5) No rainbow or visible artifacts with HTPC, 6) Computer text appears to flicker a teeny, tiny bit (not bothersome) even though HTPC is at 60 Hz refresh (Geforce2 Pro GTS at 1024X768X32), 7) Much hotter than CX1, 8) Hushbox helps but not a must, 9) Remote is tiny and uses CR2025 watch battery, 10) LT150 is better with ambient light.

Conclusion: 1) VPL-CX1 is better for computer text due to more stable and less flickering text but LT150 is brighter so better for ambient light, 2) LT150 wins hands down for DVD via HTPC or progressive, 3) LT150 has worst deinterlacer and scaler than CX1 (needs Quadscan or similar), 4) Noise level is over exaggerated if you have it table top, 5) Rainbows are not common for most of us (10% may be affected), 6) LT150 does better with ambient light.

I'll be giving my CX1 to my mom as she likes to watch TV on large screen in basement. I'll probably get HP screen as other suggested as my DIY screen is dirty from kids :-(

Could you post some pictures of your VPL-CX1, Im interested in others with this great cheap projector. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures in the coming weeks of how a budget LCD can have great blacks and great picture for next to nothing.
