M-Audio Delta 2496 and MCE 2005

I have a delta 2496 and am running MCE 2005 and when I try to use the volume button on the MCE remote the volume indicator shows that it's muted but there is sound coming from the speakers. When I push volume down it goes to zero and there is no sound. The only way to bring the sound back up is by going into the control panel and adjusting the volume.


I've read this is a common problem and can be fixed with the volumetracker plugin, but when I run volumetracker it locks my computer up and I have to close it from the task manager. I've also read this might be caused by the wireless keyboard/mouse I have(MS Desktop set), but it is the same when I remove the keyboard/mouse.


Does anyone know a solution for this? thanks.
