A friend asked me to look at his M&K V-2b that had stopped working. I found some fried components but didn't have a schematic to decipher what they where so I went looking found help here. I had to edit the url's from the email because this is my first post.

I asked for help and got the following email. I tried to include the schematics he sent but was able to.
Hi Brad,
Thank you for your email. Attached is a V-2B schematic (no power supply schematic included here) and a universal schematic which shows the basic power supply configuration used in the V-2B, and a couple of Volkswoofer schematics (VW and V-1B) for your own Volkswoofer.
If you are still having a problem troubleshooting the burnt parts, please send me a photo of the burnt parts and I might be able to help identify them.
For general troubleshooting; Usually with subwoofers it is 1 of 4 problems:
1. Noisy BASS LEVEL/volume control, makes a crackling or popping noise when the BASS LEVEL/volume control on the subwoofer is turned up or down, or even if stationary. Usually due to the subwoofer being in a humid environment over a long time. See the attached PDF about how to spray clean the BASS LEVEL control.
See if you hear a noise or distortion as you turn the BASS LEVEL control and work the other subwoofer controls and switches. Sometimes, just working the BASS LEVEL control will clean the contacts without the spray cleaner.
2. A blown external fuse: The power light on the back panel is OFF and there is no sound.
3. A blown internal fuse: The power light on the back panel is ON and there is no sound.
4. The driver is bad and needs replacement or reconing or re-edging or repaired.
If needed, you can send your driver(s) in to be re-edged/re-foamed/re-coned/repaired at one of these shops. There are many shops around the country that do re-coning, so you might research for a shop in your area. I know that Orange County Speaker is very familiar with re-foaming M&K speakers and they charge about $39:

FYI: The M&K factory was closed in February 2007.
The MK logo was purchased by the people at mksound.com. They are making M&K type product in China under the company name MK SOUND, not M&K SOUND although it looks like they have recently started using the name M&K. I am not and never have been associated in any way with the MK SOUND company, so I only know their plans from their website and press releases and have no idea about the quality or performance of their products.
I have launched the speaker brand KEN KREISEL and certainly will keep you updated about future product availability as well as parts and service on original Miller & Kreisel Sound/M&K Sound products.
I have placed you on our emailing list for news and updates.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/KenKreiselSound and at kreiselsound.com.
Hope this is of some help.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any other questions you might have.
In the meantime,
GOOD SOUND TO YOU.....ALWAYS,
