Mac Mini - analog resolution

817 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  rab
Hi everyone,

I noticed that 1920x1200 is only supported via DVI. Anyone know if the mac mini will support an analog display resolution of 1600x1024 at a useable refresh rate (85Hz or greater)? I am hoping to be able to use it to drive a 24" Sony CRT in addition to the HDTV.

Thanks!

In the technical specs of the Apple Mini on Apple's web site it states that the analog resolution, using the DVI-VGA converter is 1920x1080.

It did not see any reference to the refresh rate however.

I can report that the mini over VGA can handle the native resolution of a 20" widescreen Dell 2005FPW at 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz just fine.
Given the 32MB on the card I am certain it will support 1600x1024 but am wondering more at what refresh rate. 60Hz will flicker awfully on a CRT monitor. I am hoping it will support 85hz at that resolution (my current 32MB card does). I am guessing the card was really meant to drive LCDs since apple did not provide the usual table of supported resolutions and refresh rates for the analog output. If anyone is using the mini with the VGA connection and can verify the resolution/refresh it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
