if anyone is looking for a small, wireless keyboard check out the madcatz keyboard for $30. it uses two triple a batteries and is about the size of a cell phone. uses a dongle that plugs into a usb port and really works well. i'm using it to post this.

It uses wireless USB and can attach to the sixaxis but works fine on it's own. When attached it does a good job of staying out of the way, I'd have no problems playing Resistance with it attached. Here is the link

Edit: One review in the gamestop link says it wont pair up. I had zero problems pairing up the keyboard. I'd turn it on to type then turn it off. When it was time to type again I'd turn the keyboard back on and it paired up right away. (There is a small on/off switch on the side of the keyboard, I figure leaving it on when browsing would just waste battery.)

Do you know the range of it?

My experience with Wireless (non USB) devices is that they have short range and will not work well in a rack environment.

I am still looking for a bluetooth keyboard that has a small factor.
Looks pretty good but I do not want a USB dongle hanging out of the front of my PS3. I think I will wait for the inevitable first party one that will probably be BR.

Damn right - make it Bluetooth or don't bother me with it.

I'm sorry but I don't know the range and I threw all of the packaging and paperwork away. I'm eleven feet from my console and, like I've said, it works fine.

Peace!

I use a USB cable connected to the USB ports on the back of the PS3 and connected to a USB hub sitting to the side of my PS3 to eliminate the protruding cables hanging off of my PS3 (2 USB charging cables+future expansion). This way I can align it with the edges of my rack shelf.

Just a tip I saw somewhere on the web.

Eleven feet is a good range. Hmmm.... I might try it.

Thanks for the info.
I got one on Wednesday and if you use the PS3 to browse the web a lot or write on message boards its very useful. And for $30 its not too bad of price, although I would like one that used Bluetooth so the thing didn't make the PS3 controller so heavy. All and all, I'm happy I bought it.

Um, there are no USB ports on the back of the PS3. Is this a mod?

Exactly what I was thinking....

anyway, just went and picked up one of these. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. (the USB dongle really is not that bad...barely noticable, especially if the ps3 is tucked away) ... i'll sell it on ebay once a BT one comes out.
There are several BT keyboard/mouse already that work. I just picked the Logitech DiNovo Edge, it's awesome. No dongle needed, pairs right up to the PS3 with 1.7 firmware. It was expensive, though. Includes a touch-pad with scroll wheels (that work).

Thinking of putting the dongle on the HTPC and switching between them. Will try it anyway and see how much a hassle it is to re-pair it all the time..

I just got one this weekend. I consider myself a pretty sharp guy but have not been able to get this to pair up. When I turn it on both pieces just continue to flash that they are searching but never find eachother, the manual & their website offer zero help to troubleshoot. It seems cool but for the time being I got a $30 paperweight.

return it and exchange it for a new one. mine worked fine, and pairs up right away without doing anything.

I want a keyboard soon and don't want to spend much money on it for now. I was going to buy the Logitech DiNovo Edge, but I think I'll wait. Somebody will soon make something as good as the Edge, but with PS buttons and functions. As for now, is everyone happy with this keyboard? It's seems pretty cool and won't break the bank. I understand you have to use the usb dongle on the PS3, but how does it attach to the controller? Does it just plug into the mini usb plug that the controller uses for recharging? I haven't seen any good quality closeups, so it's hard to tell, but that seems the logical idea here.
Cool Find

maybe

Can somebody post a picture with it attached to the controller please? Does it have a natural feel to it. I was just running around on the Home Beta and the chat functions take too long without a keyboard. I need one soon!!
