Anybody tried the new version of the MadCatz light gun (supposedly it has a new sticker on the front claiming progressive scan compatibility)?


Wondering about Samsung DLP compatibility. I don't even know how many games are light gun compatible, I noticed that Starsky and Hutch claims to be.

Sadly, the answer is almost certainly no, it won't work with DLP. There have been a few light guns that claimed to work with "progressive scan" TV's. They only worked with 480p signals, and only on certain TV's that handled the progressive signal a particular way (I forget the exact technical specifications.)


The 720p nature of the DLP, as well as the timing oddities caused by the DLP and the color wheel basically mean no light gun that isn't made specifically for DLP, and DLP only, is ever going to work.

They only work with CRT devices.

For progressive scan compatibility I would expect only the simplest line doubling or "bob" algorithm would work with the gun. This algorithm just duplicates every interlaced line to create a progressive frame.
