A local dealer is fixing up a room for the Madrigal MP-D1 projector which he tells me is the only projector worthy of HDTV. Has anyone seen this? I assume it's a re-worked JVC IDLA. How much does it cost? The Madrigal site doesn't say very much except it has 550:1 contrast, 1300+ pixels.

I have seen the new Madrigal D-ILA projector. It looks very good. Cost is around $20K. The Madrigal rep I talked to said it is indeed a JVC projector. Can't remember if it is the JVC-G20 or JVC-G15.

What Madrigal does is get "hand picked" chips for their version,(whatever that means?), and give it a calibration.

It is an individual choice as to whether you want to buy a JVC and have it calibrated or pay a PREMIUM price to buy it already calibrated from Madrigal.

Either way it does look real good http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif And yes it sounds like a small Lear Jet taking off from the back of your room like all D-ILA's do. That's why people build hushboxs or mount the projector in an adjacent room. If I could afford the projector I'd figure out a way to deal with the noise and heat. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif Reed.
