I Keep reading conflicting posts and am just wondering what the bottom line is

Am i ever going to get reference level from it since the voltage isnt high enough on a Revolution 7.1? what should i be looking at?

Anyone care to share their success stories?Gonna buy some Adcoms and i figured i might as well have my HTPC do a lil extra=)

To make a long story short...it depends on your needs.

If you have relatively simple needs, like OTA HDTV recording, HDTV, DVD, and audio playback, then the HTPC can serve you well and provide excellent audio and video quality for a fraction of the price of comparable standalone products. But if you have a lot of external gear, or you listen to a lot of DVDA/SACD, or you require more complex matrix switching of audio and video signals, or you want propietary post processing (like Lexicon's Logic 7), then maybe the HTPC would not be the most cost effective or comprehensive answer.

Do a search on "HTPC as pre pro" and you should find a lengthy thread where people describe their success stories in detail.

Edit: Ok, after a tough search, I finally found the thread here:
