Hi!


I've been looking all over for some accurate info on the capabilities of the Malata 996 to play -/+ media.


The problem is that I get very confused; some people reports that the player will play everything and others don't get even DVD-R to play.


I would appreciate if someone can enlight me with some accurate info about the hardware and software used, and the results.


For the record: I probably have one of the first batches of Malatas sold in Europe. Bought it on May 2001, it's and upgradeable model(switch on the rear panel) and the firmware is SDK 0312 23 Mar 2001

My N996 plays DVD-R fine. Haven't tried -RW or +R/+RW.

Have you tried burning DV source material?

I don't know the firmware. Haven't tried burning DV source material. My DVD-Rs were all made in the Panny DMR-E20 & DMR-HS2.
