I would be happy with the true theatrical version as well. I believe I read that the SD version of this box set had it, so hopefully this will as well. If that turns out to be true, I will pick it up. Mostly because I want Manhunter.

I like Manhunter a lot, but Red Dragon in the box would give you a more consistent Lecter.

I think it is only on HDDVD though.

Oh gwad no not Red Dragon, I hated Hopkins as Lecter compared to Cox.

Cox was dangerous and had menace

Everytime I see this comment I wonder what people are seeing that I am not. Not only does Lecter not get that much screen time, when he does, Cox is actually quite the wimp. First time I saw the movie (before reading Red Dragon, or seeing Silence with Hopkins) I was wondering how that guy was a big deal. Not intimidating at all in any way.

Not saying Hopkins if perfect, but I certainly don't get the love for Cox and those who wanted him to remain as Lecter. Got to be better a choice over both guys.

I do however wish they would have brought back Peterson for Red Dragon.

i am a *huge* MANHUNTER fan, but i also find a lot to like in RED DRAGON. Ed Norton's all wrong in that role, and some of it is almost too identical (shot for shot in some scenes) to Manhunter, but it's still miles ahead of HANNIBAL in my book.

Just give me MANHUNTER... Theatrical version. That's all I want or need, thank you very much.

Despite the lack of proof, I have no doubt it will contain the same SotL BD. Like I posted before, they did the same box in SD and both Hannibal and Silence was the same disc as the individual releases. Only Manuhunter was new, and as it turns out, exclusive to the box.

Making Manhunter exclusive to the box set is just BS. I am not buying that boxed set. No way.

Back during the format war I considered buying the SD box just to get the Manhunter disc even though I owned the SE's of the other two movies and the psuedo theatrical cut of Manhunter Anchor Bay put out years ago. I enjoy the movie that much. One of Mann's best IMO.

It's my favorite Michael Mann film. Imported the MGM Theatrical cut DVD, which had the film properly presented without the stupid edits made by Anchor Bay.

I already have SoL on BD and H on HDDVD. I love Manhunter, but I probably won't buy the box, unless I find it used at a very good price. The quality of the Manhunter BD is also something that remains to be checked before buying.
