Presently I have a Dwin TV1 but intend to purchase either a Marantz 12-S2 or a Dwin TV3 soon. I had been leaning toward the Dwin, with its two DVDI inputs, because that would enable me to use DVDI connections for both my satellite receiver (Samsung 160) and my DVD player (Meridian 800). To do that with the S2 would require the additional purchase of a DVDI switcher.

However, I have read with interest the threads detailing how Marantz apparently optimized different inputs for different source material, and that the DVDI/RGB inputs are the preferred/expected inputs for HDTV sources and the component input is the preferred/expected input for DVD sources. In particular, I was interested in the reports that special circuitry is in the component source path that is intended to enhance DVD picture quality.

So here is my question: If I got the Marantz, would it be better to use the DVDI input for DVD, or the component input that reportedly has been optimized for DVD sources?
