I'm new to this forum and as I'm building a home theater, I'm trying to decipher what's the best DVD player for my system. I'm plugging into a 42 Fujitsu plasma, with DVI input and going through a Marantz receiver. The av guy who recommended my components claims the Marantz is as good as the Denon and that DVI isn't worth plugging into -- I notice many on this forum disagree with that. I asked him about the Denon with the Faroudja and he claimed the down side on the Denon is the audio when playing CDs. For this reason I was going to purchase a separate component for DVDs and a Marantz 5 disk CD changer/player. Of course, a 5 disk DVD/CD player with great audio would be ideal. I have also read about the Denon 2200/2900 on this forum but not sure if this is also a good option. So basically, I'm a lost neophyte -- DVI? Marantz vs. Denon? One unit vs. two? Any thoughts and insights would be much appreciated.
