Okay, I have narrowed it down to these two choices. They seem to both have excellent ratings and all the latest decoders. Are there any big differences I am missing? Suggestions on which is the better choice. The Marantz would cost about $125 more unless accessories4less gets more in then I could get a refurb for about the same price. This is my speaker setup as well as another passive sub. I have

I also have a Pioneer Elite 1150 plasma, multi CD player, standard DVD player (will get a BD player), Comcast HD digital and DirecTV sat. I am interested in adding an Emotiva amp as well in the next few months.

Pioneer generally overrates their amps whereas Marantz is generally on target or underrated. Between those 2 and for a $125 difference, I'd go with the Marantz myself, but both would do great driving your EMP speakers.

Really want to get something now. Plus anything newly released most likely wont be discounted much. Also, do either of these have the ability to control and output sound to a different room and control it separately?

I've had both the 1018 and the 5003 in my system and the 5003 is leagues ahead as far as SQ for music. I wanted to like the 1018 but coming from an NAD, it always sounded to bright. The Marantz sounds great...

The Hi End Wholesale name didnt come up at the Marantz site. They state they are authorized to sell the products they advertise. I want more clarity than that though. I emailed them twice so far with my questions and didnt get an answer back yet.

I dont follow how if its a sealed box and new never opened that it cant be covered under the warranty? I did check out 6th ave already, thanks. The other option is Acc4less with a refurbed 5003 for $499 plus shipping. Not sure which way to go.

You need your receipt for warranty service.

The 6ave coupon was supposed to expire Dec 23. But apparently it is still active but I don't expect that to last FYI. You get 3 years of warranty

from an authorized dealer...but it's your call.

How does this Pioneer VSX-03TXH compare to the 5003? I found that for the same price as the 5003.

The Elite's are nice but at that price it's doubtful you're gonna get any warranty.

I found it on Videogon listed as new. I dont see the seller saying he is an authorized dealer though. Im guessing the same thing applies to Pioneer as far as warranty goes. This is what their company website says:

Merchandise is sold with the FULL MANUFACTURES WARRANTY.

A retail invoice will be supplied by either American Theater, it's authorized distributors, or a participating Authorized Retailer from our Co-op of authorized dealers.

Merchandise sold 'as is' will be a Final Sale.
