Marantz 7005 won't play nicely with the xbox

361 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  srw1000

My setup is

inputs: cable box, dvd player and xbox

processor: Marantz 7004 AV receiver

Video: Optoma projector

all connected via HDMI cables

The cable and the dvd player work great, through all inputs and with each of my hdmi cables

The xbox works if I plug it directly into the HDMI input of the projector (but of course, without sound, and with the wires dangling all over the room.

But when I put the xbox into the Marantz (through any input), the Optoma shows that it locks on to the signal briefly (1920 HDMI) and then unlocks. Sometimes it flashes, and rarely, it shows me a little bit of the xbox screen.

My hunch is that the Marantz is somehow pumping out too high a resolution, but I have no clue what to do next.

Any thoughts, guys?

Thanks.

I also have a Marantz 7005, but I've never had any problems with my 360.

Do you have a 360 or Xbox One?

It sounds like you've already tried a different HDMI cable and input. Since it works going directly to the projector, it seems the HDMI out of the Xbox is working.

Have you tried changing any of the video output and processing options of the 7005? You may want to try the different scaling and output settings to see if you can get it to work.
