Marantz: Pure Direct vs Source Direct

I've noticed that the new SR8500 features 'pure direct' mode. My older SR9300 has 'source direct' and on Marantz's website is now listed as not having 'pure direct'.

Can someone please confirm for me that these two terms mean the same thing, that is, they both completely bypass the receiver's processing?
