I had almost bought the Onkyo 706 but now I am being offered a great deal on the Marantz sr5002.


I have - Samsung 40" HD 1080i 120hz

- Samsung bdp1500

- HD cable box (att uverse)

- 10 year old harmon kardon CD player

- Paradigm Exports frnt

- Also paradigm center and rears

- and big ass MK sub.


Is this a match ? I am 70% video - 30% audio.

I can not find a lot of info, reviews, positive or negative regarding this unit. What are the issues with the 5002, what can I anticipate as far as problems, set-up, connectivity and so on. Is it one of these units where you have to be working for nasa to set it up. 'Cause I don't.

I know every make and models have something, what is it with the 5002.


Please help. I have two days to decide. Not much time for research.

Well a quick google search turned up the fact that the 5002 does not decode lossless audio codecs.I believe your blu-ray player does not decode DTS HD-MA.I think that's a problem.

Get the SR5003. it's a good investment.

Thanx - If I could afford it I would. Unfortunately my deal is only on the 5002 and I only have a short time to make that deal. I just wish I could find more opinions and review on it.


Just need to make sure it's gonna work w/my system.
