I need some advice on hooking up my new holiday toys. I have an 8 year old SR8000 Marantz receiver that is one awesome piece of equipment but, alas, has no HDMI or component inputs for video switching. My TV is an 8 year old Mits 65" rear projection HDTV with no HDMI input and only one component input. I have three components I want to hook up; my HD cable box with component out, a new Sony BluRay player with component and HDMI out, and my Wii (composite now but planning to buy a component out cable for it). Two options I've considered are a new receiver or a video switchbox for my component inputs. I'd prefer to keep using this receiver if possible. If I go the switchbox route, I would continue to run all of my audio thru the SR8000 and would just choose my video and audio sources separately each time I wanted to move between sources. This way I can use my SR8000 digital audio or 6 channel inputs and still get killer sound even though it wouldn't handle my video switching.

So, from the experts, am I on the right path or should I be considering something different? I know I am not maximizing the potential of my BluRay due to the limitations of my TV but am trying to make the best of my situation until I'm at a point where the technology of 65" TV's hits the right value point. It's not worth it to me to trade up to a modern DLP just to get more HDMI and component inputs on the TV.

Thanks in advance.

Until you upgrade all of your equipment to the latest standards I think you should look at getting the video switching device and toy around with the settings on your bluray to get the best sound you can from the Marantz.
