Hi all, looking to run 8 Dayton 15" Reference HF subwoofers in 4 10cuft boxes. I can run them in 4ohms in 2 pairs of subs or all 4 wired to 2ohms.

The 2 EP4000 seems like they will only deliver 400 watts per driver in 2ohm stereo.

How will the MA-5050 compare? Have any measurement tests been done on the Marathon?

The MA-5050 will do about 475 watts per driver in 4ohms stereo IF it can deliver what it's specs states. I haven't seen any tests on them.

Last, is there any other way to wire the subs then these options below?

2 drivers 2ohms/8ohms

4 drivers 1ohm/4ohms/160hms

8 drivers 2ohms/8ohms

iirc, bossobass is powering his four 15" dual opposed sealed subs with the ma5050. you might do a search on his system or send him a note. he has reported good results.

From what I hear the marathon 5050 is pretty hard to come by at the moment. Heck I'm even having a hard time getting another ep4000 for my IB here in Canada. All my usual places are sold out and not getting anymore until early January

ya it's a website error, I tried to order one already and they sent me an email saying they were sold out. It can't be that hard to change the status lol

Damn, I started this thread 9 days ago. lol

Thanks for the help guys, but I ended up buying 2 used EP2500s for $450 shipped.

I am going to try to run the amps in 4ohm mono. Hopefully the amp's circuit breaker doesn't trip.

watch your excursion. 250w per driver models sufficient to hit xmax in your size subs. good p.a. drivers can shoot way past xmax with no damage, not sure about the 390hf.

With 8 15" subs your eardrums would probably explode before you reach the limits of the ep2500 pair. You might want to consider having dedicated 20a circuit installed for the amps.

I have 3 dedicated 20a circuits.

Good p.a. driver?

I am building 4 subs and I want to kill my 2 SVS 20-39PC-plus subs. What driver would you recommend?

Well, got my 2 EP2500 for $450 shipped. I "upgraded" the feet and did fan mods on both. I build PCs so I had some extra fans. Took less then a hour for both and they are very quite now.
