Dear forum,

in Marquees 8000 user's manual has been stated:

"Look into the red lens und use arrow keys to center the displayed crosshatch on the face of the picture tube"

The crosshatch is being displayed at left hand side of the tube sharply and no way for me to move it the center!

under service menu (#9) - red and blue vertical size adjusted to 20.

Seems to me that pj has been re-tubed. Physical adjustments through Allen head screws did not focus the red gun either.

Any proposal appreciated very much, since there is no pj expert company in my area! and I fever to get the first movie on my new pj!

Thank you very much in advance

Hello rjahan

The up, down, right, left arrow keys do not move the grid at all??

You are in the guided mechanical setup and at the step for red

centering.? You say the crosshatch is way off center to the left side?

You also say the focus is poor? and that it appears to have been

re-tubed?

I would say first thing to check is yokes on the CRT neck. The foremost

yoke is the H/V deflection coils. It must be as far up against the CRT

bell as you can get it. The next yoke is the conv/focus coils. It must be

snug up to the back of the H/V deflection yoke. The remaining magnet

rings (dot adjustments) will then be up against the back of the conv/

focus coils. You should be able to make relative comparisons with the

green or blue CRTs. Some times the old hot melt glue on the H/V coil

assembly will keep the H/V yoke from being full forward up against

the bell. You must carefully remove it. I have used needle nose

pliers to slowly pull it off a bit at a time.

Also the H/V yoke does not have a clamp. After you position the conv./

focus yoke behind it, then tighten the clamp on the conv./focus yoke.

That happened to my marquee 8000 after I replaced the green CRT

with a better one from another 8000. I did not have the centering

problem you have, but I was unable to get it focused.

Guys!

Static positioning is delivered through the sweep yokes; did someone reverse the scan and get the yoke plugs mixed up? Off the HDM, the front yoke must be red, middle is greeen, rearmost is blue. If red moves but not far enough then flare and focus yokes need realignment, best to involve a technician for that, like Spatz.

Many Thanks to Donald and Tim,

now I have some starting points and will post when I (hopefully) fix that issue.
