Marquee neck bd bench test? Experts?

263 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  johnd393
I'm thinking of trying to dummy all the supplys and inputs to a neck board on the work bench. I'm not sure if I'd have to simulate beam current, but I think it might be done without full high voltage, maybe a few hundred volts and a resistor.I really don't feel comfortable troubleshooting it of the projector.

Has anybody tried this?

Hmm, why? If you don't need beam current, what are you testing?

Brightness has no effect on the very bright raster on the tube. G2 does. Should be able to vary the brightness input and scope different points in the circuit and see where the problem is.
Check out the thread "anyone for some Marquee maintenance?". Mike Parker has outlined pretty much every failure item on the neck boards in that thread. Just do the upgrades he's mentioned and your problem will most likely go away. There's very common failures that will cause the symptom you describe, and the fixes in that thread will remedy them - no dummy test needed.
Will read the Marquee maintenance thread but, I don't want to change a bunch of parts without finding the bad one first. May do some upgrades later.
