marquee raster-shift and width?

607 Views 18 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Prehjan
hey!

I used barco 808 before, now I use a marquee8500. I try and run

[email protected], but the image on the tubes is very narrow. the raster seems

shifted to one side on all tubes.

I need to get the raster shifted to one side, but cant find option in menu!? on

barco808 thsi was very easy. also need to get the raster wider, how to do

this?

can I do this in momitsu custom set-up, and how? or this only the image and not

the raster width on pj?

Thanks Pete

Hi Pete

One can move the image in H Phase (PIC, 1) or entire raster by going into Green Converge (CONV, 5, 0901, 2) to move green and then move red and blue with the regular CONV routine; however it may induce drift, a full magnetics alignment is the better way to go. If width pulls in majorly then you may have an HDM issue. Also see http://www.etechvideo.com/techtip9.htm for other pointers.
like tim said, I think your PHASE is off and possibly not the raster. also under pic, change retrace from short to long for max input source width. Maybe post yuor location if your really stuck and somone local can help out if you gewt really stuck.

Thanks!

Marquee has only been down for 2 weeks, before then no problem. All three tubes can't

change raster shift at the same time? Isn't there a general raster shift control?

Other than that, geometry is strange, please look at picture. bottom right is

'folded' in. I can correct, but that makes top left fold in instead.

thanks again.

Have you done a complete service reset? That is usually the best place to start...
Yes, I do a complete global reset many times.

I just don't have enough picture width(if that also makes raster wider)

Can i fix in source??
Guys!

The picture jpg suggests need to adjust Key (GEOM,2) and L/R Skew (GEOM, 9); if these are at the limit then the up-angle to the screen is too steep.
Hi!

I have the same problem, but even though this is a general problem with the Marquee

(everyone I've seen), we should be able to make the image wider in the momitsu player.

I've toyed with the settings, and I can move the image left/right and up/down, but I can't

make it wider.

Someone clever must have the perfect timings for us:)

Thanks,

Nicholas

Tim, is it a screw inside the coils, or what? turn left and right etc?

What exactly should I do in there? It seems like a good way to get a wider image.

do these coils makes the raster wider or only the active image?
I've read Tim's excellent guide many times concerning the adjustment of these coils (thanks Tim...it's all printed in nice color and bound...the major part of my Marquee reference collection).

My questions are when do they need to be adjusted...after a full reset but before mechanical and electrical setup or at some point during conv based on bad results during a setup step? Before would make sense so as not to induce undue stress but what would you need to see from a full reset to warrant it?

(Gonna head back to the King's Quest HT (corny but my last name is King) and re-read.

I probably missed something or didn't absorb it.

they make the raster wider, and by default your input source image as well. Be careful to set it without spilling over tube face and als for both high and low band, use ONLY plastic tool.

You guys really need to have all your basic Geometry's in the normal range before you monkey with the coils. the projectro is set for a 15 degree angle to the screen, if your shooting at extreme angles up from the floor you need to raise the PJ up on a cart or table or put it on the ceiling where it belongs. These machines were not designed to sit on the floor.

I think Kings Quest HT is a cool name, I haven't been able to come up with one for mine, maybe Dragan's Lair?

:)

...a deep, dark pit where dwells, legend tells, one (or more ;) ) of the few remaining three-eyed beasts of ages past :)
Hmm...I just bought the only coil tool they had. It doesn't say anything about size.

0.10" is how much in millimeters?? :(

Thanks,

Nicholas
The store only had ONE plastic thingy, and that is ca. 2mm, sligthly more, but not quite

2.54mm like Tim says. I hope it will work.

Nicholas
Dragan's Lair is a great name! The HT decoration options are endless..swords, shields, etc. Having names likes mine and the one you just tossed out there definately show our age!!! ;)

I hesitate to touch the coils...I'm going to post some pics in a new thread of my first 8500 setup results as soon as I can figure out how to create a gallery that is. I'll have some questions in that post about throw distance vs raster width.

Thanks for the heads up draganm! (I have a full set of plastic coil adjusters)

Nich....no Radio Shack where you live? they gnerally don't have much in the way of answers or electronic components you'd want to put in anything of quality but I got a full set there a couple years ago. In a pinch, the sprue (the cage holding a car model together) can be whittled to what you need. Just make sure you use as long a piece as you can find to keep your digits as far away as possible..

Another quickie cheapo is to use the little plastic sword that you get with a cocktail if you have any laying around. The goal is to not use metal so most anything non metallic will do.

Okay, the plastic thingy fitted perfectly!

However, next to NOTHING happens when I turn them...NOTHING

I also see some of the same described issues on my M8500 ...Although i m still socking up tims guide...I m still not sure which ajustments should come first...Someone mentioned: reset/manual gometry/Raster ajustments...Am i getting this correctly?

I also have mine on a table top....at exact hight of the screen...

I have learned alot on this forum, and thanks folks for all your advice and specially patience
