In the dim and paranoid recesses of my brain, I seem to remember horror stories of fried boards when hooking up miss wired serial connections to the Marquee seres of projectors...

I recently won a Marquee switcher off of flea-bay, and I want to be sure that I do NOT suffer such a fate!

can I wire up a serial cable using 25" of cat5?

(25" because all the BNC cable bundles I have are 25-ft, no sense going to short or overly long.)

is it a striate through setup, or something else?

should I be able to find a pre-wired solution?

Thanks

Oh... and another quik Question on the same subject.

are the input cards in said Marquee switchers the same as the small input card space in the Marquee itselfe?

i.e. can I get a quick fix by taking one of the cards out of the switcher and installing it directly in the Marquee, and thus get 2 RGB inputs?

I want idiot proof switching between the Momitsu at 960p and the HD tuner @ 1080i

Quick solution! Go to a local computer store and pick up a pair of DB-9 to RJ-45 adapters. That way you can make up the cable by doing the wire connects in the cat-5 RJ-45's when crimping and not have to worry about soldering DB-9s. I use this for the HTPC to marquee RS-232 port to control the projector running HouseBot on the htpc. Works perfectly!!!
