Are the VIM for the 8000 and the 8500 the same?

No. There are different revisions esp. for the 8500 where I think you can find odd individuals w the much sought-after rev 2035-03p, thou much more common will be the 02p which you find in the vast majority of the 9000-9500 both Ultras and non-U. The standard VIM in the 8000 is the 2005-01p (-03p) thou VIMs of all later rev:s will work and also provide an upgrade to a better PQ.
Later production 8000s DO often include the newer board types, incliding the 2035-02p VIM,

and the neck cards are often the later style as well. And sometimes, you will find a 34.9 KV

HVPS in a factory 8000.

By mid '97, I don't think they were installing the old version VIM and neck boards in anything anymore.

More like 1994
Thanks guys, guess I will keep looking for an 8500 VIM then.
Before buying this I heard the positives of the Marquee is the abundance of parts and for cheap. Is this VIM the pink elephant? I have only found a couple one at 500 bucks and one modded for about 600. Where is everyone getting these "cheap" spare parts? ARG!!!
ebay, other hobbyists on here.

For $500 you should be getting a fully modded vim and then some.

thanks PC i have been checking everywhere: ebay, videogon, here. Have seen some that have sold in the past for 100-150 bucks. Could handle that but for 500 dollars it better come with a stripper!!
I have about 4 or 5 VIM's left but unfortunately I mixed up the good and bad so I don't even know what ones work and what don't and now I don't have a marquee left to test them.

I'm sure at lest one or two are good if you cant find anywhere else to get a reasonably priced one...

Sent you a PM. Would love to get a working 05-2035-02P for a 8500.
