I think the answer is a clear NO. It just would not make sense. An HTPC is clearly superior at playing back well mastered DVDs. You would use a DVDO to scale non DVD sources like VHS. You could also use dScaler and a video capture card in your HTPC to do the latter job.
Technically, you *can* do it, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif Before dTV was released I was playing around with a setup like this; I tracked down and bought a pricy RGB capture card (Matrox Meteor II/MC) and hacked together some software to scale the image up to my HTPC's resolution. It worked okay, but DScaler is a much better (not to mention cheaper) solution.
