first off, the light spill on the HT1K is considerably less noticeable than it was on my LT150.

but there is still spill, and in my situation with the pj sitting so far off axis, the spill has an angled, trapezoidal shape which makes it more noticeable.

even more apparent is the light spill out the bottom, which in my situation (sitting on a cart) casts an arc of light across the floor.

in most normal, lit scenes- the light coming off the screen washes this out anyway.

but when the screen goes dark (usually in a suspenseful scene) any extraneous light is a bit of a distraction.

in about 5 minutes i made this mask out of cardboard and stapled to a small piece of wood.

as you can see from this pic, the mask is catching quite a bit of light

for reference (and a testament to how well the projectors 3d reform feature works) this is how far off axis i have my pj. to avoid any keystoning, The pj should normally be where the chair/ottoman is .

watched 3 films with the mask in place last night, and it was certainly worth the minor effort invloved.
