I am going for the professional look and the best "perceivable" picture quality, the answer to me would be the black felt on the entire front wall except for the fixed dalite screen of course. Or is it just as effective to simply paint the front wall black instead. Need opinions

This really will depend on the type of projector and how bright it is. Felt will be less reflective/visible than paint -- but usually paint is fine. My front wall is dark gray and it essentially becomes "black" during movie viewing -- I'm running with a 7inch CRT unit.
