Hi,

I am curious as the option of the matching amplifiers by brand in a 7.1 speaker setup. I currently have an older 200watt Rotel amp and would like to get a matching 5 channel 200-watt amp. For the 5 channel amp, I was thinking of 200w x5 from Outlaw (bit cheaper than Rotel gear).

My speakers are Paradigm Studio all around. What is the importance of matching the amps in this setup for tonal/correct difference? My setup is a dedicated HT room.

Thanks for the advice,

George

The only thing you really have to concern you with is level matching.

Although under certain conditions, clipping, difficult loads ect.. you may actually hear a difference..... most of the time you won't, or rather other things such as room response issues will play a much larger role than your amp.

Jut make sure to get sufficient power for your speakers.

As long as they don't have a funky OHM swings, and you get enough power, you'll be fine. Just make sure to spend some time with an spl meter and properly set your levels.

You will need to use the Rotel for the Surround Backs and the Outlaw for the Front and Surround speaker. You want the L/R/C speakers to use a matching amp.
