I currently have just a setup across the front of my room. All three speakers are Infinity Primus series, with a center and 2 front surrounds. I found a great deal locally on a set of Polk Rt1000 flloor standing speakers that have a subwoofer built into each. My question is, if I keep the Infinity Primus center channel, and then move the Infinity bookshelf speakers to the rear, and use the Polk speakers in the front, will that affect the sound quality any because they are not matched speakers?

Quality is such a subjective thing with respect to sound...

But it will definitely affect the sound consistency. Both brands of speakers can have a sound that says, "Quality" to you and still sound differently. In fact, they WILL sound different, and that's where the consistency issue comes in. If their sound characteristics are somewhat close, then it won't be a big deal. However, if the speakers' timbre is markedly different, the inconsistency could make for unpleasant listening.

As in all speaker purchases, only listening will tell. The closest thing to a sure thing in listening consistency is when all the speakers are the same.

Have fun.

I'm not sure how much you're getting the polks for, but many Infinity retailers have a promotion for free pair Primus bookshelves when you buy certain Infinity speakers. Maybe getting a pair of matching Primus 250/360 floorstanders would seem more likely? This would help bring you quicker to a 7.1 setup.
