I decided to put this in its own thread.

I have one of each drive now running in my test 5040 and 4504 machines. The drives are 7200RPM and have 3 yr warranties, FDB, and 16MB cache.

The 6B250R0 in the 5040 has been running for several hours and is running as cool as the 5400RPM 4R160L0 I am testing in the 5504. It actually seems to be a little cooler by a couple of degrees. Not bad for a 7200RPM drive. If anything changes in the morning, I will post it.

I should have the 6B300R0 here soon and I will also have the 6B200P0, which has only 8MB of cache but 3 year warranty.

I am also waiting for my Seagate 400GB drives.

Looks good.

I haven't been on here in months. I still have a HS2000 with 2 120's in it. Doesn't seem to matter how much space I start out with--eventually I wind up with tons of programs that I won't delete until I've ripped them to DVD--so I wind up using the last few MG for current recording--or maybe I'm just Anal Retentive.

I used an Antec (CYCLONE BLOWER) to keep things cool and it's been working well for a couple of years now.

So I guess I'll have to come up to speed here again. You've got 500gig on a 4504 and looking to gear up to 800!? That seems like pretty good progress.
