I've just ordered a Lexicon MC-1, and will be ordering the CI scaler in the very near future. My question is how should I connect all my video sources? Do I go to the MC-1 first, or to the CI first?

If you are referring to the Y/C and Composite sources, you should run each source to the MC-1 first and let it switch sources for you.

The MC-1 will not switch Component or RGB, so of course run those directly to the CI.

If you have more than 1 svideo source (SVHS and Sat) I would connect the sources to the MC1 and the "S" monitor out to the CI. If you have LD, connect the composite out to the CI directly (unless your LD player has a superior comb filter). Connect the component output of the DVD player to the CI directly. I would also run "S" video from the DVD and LD to the MC1 for easy usability.

This setup would allow all sources to be viewed through the Svideo input without any input switching. For the best DVD picture switch over to the component input, best LD on the composite. Once you have your projector calibrated, you will have to use the picture controls on the CI and a video calibration disk to optimize for each individual input or player.

Good luck

P.S the VGA pass will not need to be calibrated. I am enjoying HDTV passed through to my D-ILA projector.
