Good News for HTPC users wanting customisable Video Output. JRMedia Center 12.0.518 onwards ( www.jrmediacenter.com ) now lets you tag each Video file for customisable playback including:

1) Aspect Ratios (eg some can be Auto, Crop, etc)

2) Display Settings (eg you have set native resolutions and refresh rates for each video - Finally no more "Judder" from mismatched timing if you graphics card is a different refresh rate to that of the media - OR manual changing of the refresh rate!)

3) Edge Croping - clean up the "rough" edges on older Video.

I've got a thread going over at http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47172.0 but finally a Direct Show player that lets you customise not just the filters by file type but also the playback settings for each file!

Thanks

Thanks, Nathan.

That build (518) is available only on the MC12 board here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=12.0

It will be moved to the download page in a week or so.

(The product name is J. River Media Center. The current version is 12.0, so that's why Nathan called it MC12.)

I believe 518 was removed because of possible corruption of your computer files, and other issues. Hey if you don't succeed at first, try and try again. Nothing wrong with that. Incremental approximation is the only process available to human kind. My only complaint with their otherwise good product, is they will make you pay again, by using a new release number. I suggest looking at mediamonkey.com for a product that offers a lifetime one time purchase price.

You might "believe" that, but you would be mistaken.

Nice to hear about MediaMonkey though. Thanks.

The basis of my belief was a thread on INTERCEPT entitled "Build 518 thread locked?", which contained the un-refuted speculation as to a "potential issue with database corruption". The fact that they were willing and quick to correct it is a good thing.

Edit: The FACT that JRiver, feigns ignorance, and has NOT responded to this in over two weeks, says more about their style of doing business. I don't sign up with companies that attempt to charge again and again for software that is quickly becoming free, or commodity priced. And, companies that admit to banning 100 users have NO rightful place to run a forum called Interact (sic, INTERCEPT). Sunlight is a wonderful antiseptic.
