Hi All,

I am very new to McIntosh and am wondering if anyone has evaluated the differences between these two amps? The specs are very similar, if not the same except of course the extra 2 channels on the MC207.

Currently i have a 5.1 800 series b&w setup (non-diamond speakers) and would like a recommendation as to which amp i should go for. I do not have any plans to go 7.1 unless someone can state otherwise, so the extra channels on MC207 would be used to bi-amp the fronts.

They are the same product except for the number of channels. The MC207 would be a great solution.

additionally, my understanding is that the mc207 uses the new balanced design mcintosh has for amplifiers.

The MC205 is not THX certified.

Are you referring to quad-balancing? The MC205 and MC207 are not but they do have Sentry Monitor, Power Guard and automatically select between 4 or 8 ohm using their DPM technology.
