I just got the 130 card and installed it. Works good so far, able to get a few channels over QAM on my cable, but i have a few questions to ask:

1) Can a old (15+ year) roof mounted antenna pick up OTA HD?

2) How do you convert the QAM TP files to either DVD or an editable format (MPEG2 or AVI)?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The short answer is yes. Any good antenna can be used to pick up OTA HD.

The caveats are :-

a) The antenna should be in good shape and should be able to pick up both VHF and UHF ( almost all can )

b) The cabling from the antenna to the card should be in good shape also. Most likely the cabling is RG-59 and most people today use RG-6 or better.

In my personal case, moving from RG-59 to RG-6 resulted in much better reception ( using my MDP-120 ) and allowed me to pick up all the OTA stations.

You can convert the TP/TS files using HDTV2MPEG. Search this forum for HDTV2MPEG and/or HDTV2MPG

Thanks for that. WHen the weather gets better, ill see about getting that bad boy online :)

HDTV2MPEG doesn't recognise the TP files off of the QAM, it seems. It doesn't see any of the internal streams. THe output is a 2KB error file.

What is the procedure then?
