About the time I was feeling a bit more comfortable understanding HDTV resolutions, this came at me and has me somewhat confused.
It is my understanding that the two most common OTA/HDTV formats are 720p and 1080i – as I recall 1080i implies a 1024x768 resolution – which means 768 vertical-lines x 1024 pixels/line.
So, while watching PBS/HD in Los Angeles (CH 59) the MDP100 shows an input resolution of 1920x1080i (or 1980x1080i, I can’t recall). It’s a full 16:9 format and the video image is awesome.
Ques: What does a resolution of 1920x1080i mean exactly, and since my PJ has a native resolution of 1024x768, what part (or amount) of this OTA broadcast am I losing because of the obvious limitations of my PJ?
My apology if this is a dumb question but until yesterday I thought I understood (hopefully I'm not alone)
…
Thanks guys,
Alysa
