I believe the (initial) list already contains some errors; :)

The ATI graphics card should not be the Mobility type, since it is used only on laptops. I don't believe the 9800 model nor the X800 has Mobility in its naming.

Does anyone know when is it going to be available via MSDN?

I placed my order last Thurs with Directron and haven't heard any word from them since. NewEgg is $173.92 delivered for both MCE & remote. If I had to do it again, I'd order from NewEgg with the knowledge I'd have my package exactly 3 days later.

I ordered mine from Directron last thursday and had it Monday. Installed it last night... Looks good but will take a day or two to get all the features working.

MSDN - I did a search on the newsgroups available within the MSDN page links and someone said it is on the shipping list for November.

I'm just going to keep trying daily to see when it appears on the subscriber downloads page I guess...

Thanks for posting the compatibility list link!

Hi guys, first post here :)

Regards MCE2005, I notice that MS have relaxed the stipulations somewhat and are now allowing small system builders to supply it, hence the availability of OEM copies in the channel.

What I wanted to know is how the EPG downloads work in these cases? Bear in mind I know nothing about MCE at present. Do you need some form of license, subscription or account to download the EPG data?

In the case of a small system-builder who supplies MCE2005 with their machines, how does the end user obtain access to the EPG data at Microsoft's site, or is it freely downloadable by everyone with no access credentials required?

You may want to contact them. I received an email immediatly confirming the order, then two follow ups stating that the order was shipped and they gave me a tracking number.

But New Egg seems to have a good bundle price.

I'm still bitter at NewEgg about my HDTV wonder fiasco. In the end they gave me a full refund, so I guess I need to forgive them;)

You do not need any additional accounts or subscriptions to access the EPG, once you have Windows XP Media Center Edition you gain access.

What regions are the EPG data good for ???

I am in SE Asia and am pretty sure you dont have this region covered (I have found no single source solution for online EPG'ing) but perhaps you can hook into the EPG data within DVB sat cards ???

A Solid EPG for TV would really be a welcome HTPC feature for me.

A complete Windows XP MCE 2005 Starter Kit which includes Windows XP MCE 2005, the Microsoft MCE Remote, a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250MCE card, and the nVidia NVDVD codec will be available on 10/13/2004 for the introductory price of $249 (a savings of $33 over buying separately).

Thanks for that.

Out of interest, if I wanted to buy MCE2005 for use on an HTPC of my own, what are the exact stipulations. In other words, what hardware do I have to buy with it in order for the license to be legit?

Also, in the review of MCE2k5 i read, using the NvDvd 4 codec provided shaky results..of course this was a leaked codec, but still makes me hesitant

And NO support for FFDshow!!!
