My local channel WTWC-DT is refusing to tune in both XP's Media Center and Vista's Center. When I do a signal strength check it shows that the channel is coming in strong. However, when I go to Live TV and try to turn to the channel it says No Signal.

My tuner card is an AVerTVHD MCE A180 and when I use their software the channel comes in fine.

I checked Media Center's configuration file and confirmed that the channel info was set correctly. My other local HD channels come in fine in Media Center. Any ideas?

Still haven't found a solution.

Don't know where you are but go here and look for AVS thread for your local area.

The one for my area has been very helpful for analyzing my problems from the local station's. I had the same problem you describe, strong signal but black screen no sound on TV reception and "No Signal" in MCE but played fine with tuner card software. One Local station (not an NBC) was at fault. BTW this is OTA. Even though most of the thred for my area discusses cable/sat problems the knowledge that they have the same problem keeps me from wasting time looking for bugs in my equipment. Also noticing that more of them are adding OTA for free and better HD.

That has been the answer at times for me also. The thing about the local thread though is it can save a lot of timee if it is not your equipment. Actually rerunning tuner setup (including on TV itself) is a trick I learned from another local member. When you first come in to digital you just don't think of these things.

Yeah, it's definitely not my equipment. I bought a new tuner card (a Hauppauge HVR-1600) and I have the same problem. It tunes fine in the WinTV software but not in Media Center.

I tried asking for help in the local Tallahassee thread but no one has been able to help. I guess no one uses Media Center in my area.

Anyway here is the transport stream for the station. Maybe someone here can figure out what's wrong with it.

That's hard to imagine, Tallahassee is no small area. The local threads are not BS threads and usually postings are from a problem like yours and new users. Give it a day or two. BTW is this antenna or cab/sat? If ant are you using the trick of telling MCE it is a local digital cable provider in order to get the sub channel listings in the EPG? My Fusion card and Toshiba TV both give me a % sig strength. In my case it varies from 89 to 100. I noticed that the green bars for sig strength in MCE would lead me to believe it was a 100 on all channels. Does your TV tune that channel? Just throwing out questions you may not have addressed.

I gave it 2 months. No one has been able to help.
There are engineers from ABC and Fox who post in the Tallahassee thread but no one from NBC.

This is OTA HD. I usually get around 70-80% signal strength on NBC. Media Center confirms this. But when I try to tune the station it just says No signal. Even with weaker signals I can usually pick up bits and pieces of a picture, but with this nothing. Media Center does not like something in the data stream and is completely refusing to tune it.

I don't know why it has a problem though when my tuner software doesn't. Media Center can tune my other local channels fine. I'm 99.9% sure it's a problem with my local NBC affiliate but they won't respond to my e-mails so I'm not sure what else to do.
