I know many on here use VLC's media player for playing back .ts files recorded to PCs, but recently I discovered another Media Player application that appears to blow the socks off VLC. It's called Media Player Classic (not to be confused with the lame a** MS product). It's another free source media player that does a great job of playing back HD content on my PC at least, I find it much better than the results i got from VLC.

It can play back DVDs as well, and has a screenshot capture utility built in that lets you save HD snapshots

You can download it here

It's all relative. It just uses whatever filter you assign to it. In this case I find VLC to be better at some things, MPC at others.

This might be more appropriate for the HTPC forum.

not only that but i would bet that they're probably both using the same decoders from the ffmpeg/mplayer projects anyways so it really just becomes a matter of interface preference ;).
