For some reason I can not share media through wmp11 zune or any other program out there. With WMP 11 it says that sharing is turned off but nothing I have tried will let me turn it on. I am running fios internet with a Actiontec MI424WR gateway. I don't know if this is a firewall issue or not but if someone out there can help me out I would appreciate it very much.

I'm interested to hear what you find out. I can't seem to get my PC to share anything with my 360 either. I've turned sharing on through wmp11, but no go.

I had similar probs when upgraded to WMP11, uninstalled and went back to using Windows Media Connect 2.

A general issue with streaming is that the route from the PC to the 360 has to be direct through the main router.


I tried to have a secondary wireless router (more secure) do the job of connecting the 360 to my existing system, and had to change things so the main wireless router talked directly to the 360. No big deal, but it was big to making things work.


If your 360 is hard-wired to the same router as the PC, then I can't say why WMP11 doesn't see it. You could try TVersity, but that seems to have its own set of issues...

Got it working, it was a stipid firewall issue, but tversity is choppy and sometimes vids won't even work, The audio aspect on the other hand work flawlessly.

What exactly was wrong with your firewall because I cant get mine to work at all and the firewall is off on my comp and my router doesnt have one. My computer is wired into the same router as my 360.

I think vista could be great one day but as of now it's better to wait still at least until the first service pack.

Try checking your services. One or two them might be off for WM11 to use.

Never heard that it couldn't. If a WMV file has the right 5.1 audio codec in it, the 360 should play it no matter what server you use.


I have no need for 5.1 so I haven't needed to make my WMVs that way...

can you convert avi, divx 5.1, ripped dvds on your computer to wmv with 5.1 and then stream via tversity.


BTW, what is best resolution set for SD DVDS, as 0n 720P, native get pillar boxed, on my hdtv
