After updating the firmware of my Media Gate HD-MG350

[MG-350HD] v1.0.8 Firmware

The improvement of 1.0.8 firmware is as follows.

1.0.8

- Cannot recognize 'Maxtor 300G' HDD ==> Solved.

- MP3 VBR's displayed 'total play time' does not match actual 'total play time'. ==> Solved.

- After about 30 minutes of AVI time search, A/V sync does not match. ==> Solved.

- When you press the 'TV out' key, you no longer need to press over 20 times now, because, the cycle mode has been simplified.

(Composite - Component -DVI- S-Video....)

- USB external HDD detection error ==> Improved.

- Play list, bookmark, firmware file and shared directory icons ==> Changed.

- Caption language selection ==> Added.

- Caption selection popup ==> Improved.

- Ability to change from 16:9 to full screen display ==> Improved.

- Audio problem in mpeg+ac3 files ==> Solved.

- Audio problem in ts+ac3 files ==> Solved.

- Digital output problem in *.m4a, *.aac files ==> Solved.

- Audio problem in files recorded via specific PVR ==> Solved.

- Availability to set & save 'Screen size (Display)' separately in each of TV Out's output mode. ==> Improved.

- Finer tuning/adjustments for display size (Very large, Large, Small, Very small, etc.) ==> Improved.

- Noise problem while starting certain ts files ==> Solved.

- Problems running 'time search' and getting time info for certain tp files ==> Solved.

- Availability to save display size and location ==> Added.

------------------------

I update the firmware and now I cannot access the screen, have tried using TV OUT on the remote to change settings but am having no luck.

The remote control is being recognised as it will turn the unit on and off.

Any suggestions?

Well, I would still go to the simplest output connection (either the S-video or composite), and see if you are getting anything over that connection. I found that was the only way for me to recover a couple of times. Even though the TV Out button on the remote SHOULD cycle you through the settings, I don't know, it seems "finicky" some times.

actually i get this problem all the time. Wether I use the s-video cable via a s-video switchbox.. or wether I use the composite and plug it directly into the TV-set.. it very rarely turns on on the first try

i usually have to power on, then power off, then on again and do this 2 or 3 times before the mediagate 350HD detects the video source.. it's weird.. and it only started as of the firmware 1.09

1.10 JUST came out and I'm about to upgrade now.. hopefully it solves this issue

How (or from where) are you able to download the new firmware? I went to the mediagateusa site and none of the links work. I have tried to send email to techsupport and that has bounced back. I have my MG350 working but I am frustrated by the lack of features - such as playing m3u playlists. I would also like to stream internet radio through the MG350 instead of my computer since my computer is not connected to my AV boxes (although it is connected to the network as is the MG-350 wirelessly).

My 350HD just broke on me as well. I went to turn it on and it never boots up. It just stays in the blinking stage forever.

I only have an external USB HD hooked up to it and that was it. I tried unplugging it (15min/overnight) retrying no good. I disconnected everything and then retired and still just blinks. Basically it's fried.

I'm hopping I can still RMA it (@ the 42 day mark) and get a working unit. I had the 1.10 firmware applied to it.

if it's blinking it's because it's trying to locate the video source and it's being stuborn about it. I had the same problem untill I upgrade to 1.10 and then all is well again.

If you're still having trouble.. try using composite instead of s-video or vice-versa, also don't go through a switchbox, try plugging it directly to your TV, and if you are having it on one of your Tv-Video channels (usually 1, 2 or 3) then make sure it's turned on that tv-video channel before powering it up.
