Last night I was playing Call of Duty WaW and I got the the Purple Heart Achievement "Awarded for demonstrating courage in the face of adversity". Its another way of saying I suck at this game. I never thought I'd get an achievement for dying so many times. For the record I am playing my first play through on Hard.

Gears of War 2 has the Seriously 2.0 for 100,000 kills. Pretty sure I won't even come close to 10% of that.

GTA4. I got "Let the Sleeping Rockstars Lie" for killing a rockstar dev online. Pure luck on this one.

Avatar, example of just how lazy some devs are.

I enjoyed the Ravenholm achievement in Half Life 2.

I would also someday like to collect all the orbs in Crackdown, which will be awarding...I refuse to use a guide, or as I call them...cheatsheets. Where would the award be for looking at a guide and then just going to get them?

Collecting all Agility Orbs and Hidden Orbs in Crackdown was pretty ridiculous. As are the kill 53,000+ zombie achievements in Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead. Mile High Club from CoD4 was incredibly difficult as well.

I dislike that quite a few games have online only achievements, making it practically impossible for me to get all 1000 in some games I own (Quake 4, etc.).

As for some ridiculous ones, carrying that damn gnome all the way through Half Life 2 is pretty much number one on my list. I got half way through and said forget about it, it's not worth it lol.

i always thought that the COD4 achievement for killing a player, picking up their gun and killing them again was pretty funny! Also the one where you gotta kill each person on the team or something like that.

There's also...

Left 4 Dead
Zombie Genocidest - Kill 53,595 Infected (20G)

That's one more kill than Capcom's Dead Rising achievement.

Speaking of which...

Dead Rising
Zombie Genocider - Defeat at least 53,594 zombies (20G)

7 Day Survivor - Survive for at least 7 days (20G)

But this one seriously takes the cake.

Rock Band 2
The Bladder of Steel Award - Completed the Endless Setlist 2 without pausing or failing (25G)

Now I looked this one up and it takes about 7hr34m to complete non-stop, I mean seriously come on!

I remember one for NBA Live 07. Be online when 1000 other people are online achievement. Its just too bad the game sucked so bad that people are almost never on. They had to get it by the way of EA forums.

O man I forgot about that one, that was ridiculous. The "Save One Bullet" achievement on Episode One was pretty insane as well: Beat Episode 1 firing only one bullet. You were basically restricted to the crowbar, GG, and rockets for the moments that called for them; you're one allowed bullet being required to blow a lock off a door.

the "cross the antlion beach in chapter sandtraps without touching the sand" achievement in Orange Box Half Life 2 is pretty ridiculous. I spent nearly two hours meticulously setting up debris that I could walk across in an attempt to get the achievement all while saving the game after every jump and still didn't get it.

I carried that gnome 90% of the way to the end and then left it at the top of an elevator shaft and thought I was returning. When I did return near the top of the elevator shaft, the way was blocked and my saved game was accidentally saved over. So, my gnome was gone. It was horrible

How about getting an achievement for pressing "Start" on The Simpsons Game?

I got that one for GTA4 too. Although I am not sure it was a dev that I killed. The way I heard that achievement goes is that you get it by either killing a Rockstar Dev or by killing someone who has killed a Rockstar Dev. My buddy got GTA4 recently and he only got that achievement by killing me after I had got it.

Gotta love those Brothers in Arms "achievements". There is also one for playing the game on D-Day. Better remember to put in that disc this summer if you want 1000/1000.

I hate how some achievements have constraints. The one that comes to mind was get knocked off a vehicle then take it back. I did it on 2 different occasions playing with friends, finally I found someone in a rank match to do it with me after trying for a week.

People are going to work together to get achievements but some are so hard you almost have to know someone to get it(like the Medal of Honor achievement on Battlestations Midway). I still dont have the achievement and was actually on my way to get it on a regular match and the guy quit

All those damn flag achievements in Assassin's Creed are ridiculous. I did the beginning area because there were only 30 or so but didn't attempt the others.

Got another: "Brass Balls" in Bioshock. Beat the game on the hardest difficulty with vita-chambers turned off. Anyone who complained the game was too easy when it came out and hasn't played it since the patch needs to give that a spin.
