Why? I know its a good flick, but does it looks really great and sound really great also? I'd forgotten about it being out on DVD, but I'll pick it up definitely if its technically really good, too.

Frankly, as I watched it tonight I never gave a thought to the quality of the transfer.

This movie is a monumental achievement in filmaking.

Yeh, its a great film. I'd put it up there with Boyz in the Hood as probably the two best examples of the series of "Angry Black Young Man" genre films that came out in that period. "South Central" is another good one. Though its a poor quality DVD, "Clockers" is also a good film in that category, oh and "Juice" as well.

Menace II Society is indeed probably the best "Hood" movie made. I actually thought it was more realistic than Boyz N Tha Hood. The Hughes Brothers are impressive directors(see From Hell for their latest work). Larenz Tate(O Dawg) is great in this movie as well.
