I recently ordered the Middle Atlantic 5-21 Slim 5 Rack Frame for the Home Theater we are building. I am having a difficult time finding a place that will sell/order the custom face plates.

Who do you guys recommend I try?

I'm set to buy my RSH shelves from www.rsem.com (bought my Slim 5 from them). They have really good prices and the customer service is super. All shelves are drop shipped from Mid. Atlantic.

Go to:

http://www.middleatlantic.com/rsh/rshcus2.htm

to see if they have the rackmount for your component on file. If not, they will add it for free, but you have to ship your component to them to measure. They send it right back, insured. I've only had to do that once or twice. Most of the time, they have the component on file already.

Josh,

I have two different MA racks in my house all using custom Middle Atlantic RSH shelves. I bought all my MA racks and custom rack mounted shelves from Chris at StayOnline.com. They've been very responsive each time I purchased and even took care of a clerical shipping problem I had immediately. I went with them based on recommendations from others here on AVS. Prices are pretty good too and they are one of the only companies I've seen with a MA shelf configurator on their website.

I concur. I had one shelf that didn't fit the component (likely an error in the MA measurements database). It took MA four tries to get the faceplate right, and Helen at StayOnline helped me get it all straightened out promptly and without complaint.

I second the www.rsem.com recommendation. Their prices are some of the lowest, and customer support is second to none. You can also order just the face plate (AFACE) if you already have the shelf and side walls of the correct size, but just want to change out the component face. Saves a lot of $$$.

I used RSEM for my rack itself and performanceaudio.com for my shelves and faceplates.

The face plates are designed to work specifically with the RSH shelf.

While we are talking about the MA faceplates. Does anyone know a good way to clean the black brushed & anodized faces ?

Mine have white scuffs from my fingernails rubbing against them:
