I'm looking at a new Mac mini and only plan to use it as an HTPC--no games.


Will the Intel HD Graphics hold up to HD (1080p) video and audio? If the Intel is good enough for HTPC purposes, I don't want to spend the extra money on a Radeon (which is more likely a better option for gaming).


Has anyone put the Intel HD Graphics model through the paces yet?

You'll be fine sticking with the Intel HD3000 graphics. The mini also supports a full sized HDMI port so you won't have to buy any annoying adapters. One thing you should note though: The mini does not have a CD drive, you can get around this if you purchase an external drive, but if you are planning to rip any blu-ray or dvd video it is an extra expense to consider.


The other thing to consider is the mini only has 2GB of ram, I recommend 4GB for decent performance. It's an easy enough upgrade to do on the Mini though, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Can the intel chip also do HD3D content. I.e. Full 1080p both eyes via a HDMI 1.4 cable?

The Intel HD3000 is supposed to be HDMI 1.4 compliant and support 3D. I'm not sure about Apple's implementation. People have successfully installed Intel's drivers in Windows 7 x64 on MacBook Airs, which indicate that the above is supported by Intel.
